Renewable energy is undoubtedly one of the most vital sectors in today’s world, and it takes dedicated professionals to keep the wheels turning. At GWE, we’re proud to have Bart as our Production Manager, steering the ship towards a sustainable future. In this blog, we’ll learn more about Bart as he shares insights into his role, his journey with GWE, and some fun facts about his life outside of work.

1) Can you tell us a bit about your role at GWE? 

As a production manager, I ensure smooth operation of the department to guarantee on-time delivery of products for our customers.

2) How long have you been working at GWE, and what drew you to the company?

I have been with the company for almost 2 years. The fact that it is a rapidly growing company has presented an opportunity and challenge that I was looking for, hence why I am here.

3) Can you walk us through a typical day in your role at GWE?

I meet with the team in the morning and liaise with team members to ensure production flow for the day, week, and month. I attend meetings with relevant departments which ultimately are aimed at scaling the business up. I deal with suppliers, identify areas for improvement, and solve any other issues that arise. By the end of the day, I debrief with key members of staff, plan for the next day and close up the premises.

 4) What inspired you to pursue a career in Energy conservation, and how does GWE align with your personal values?

I value the pursuit of technology that helps with day-to-day costs of living and/or running a business, and the fact that our products are aligned with pursuing “Net Zero” is a significant bonus.

5) What sets GWE apart from other Energy conservation companies in the industry?

We are able to supply products up to 400A ex stock.

6) What has been your highlight of working at GWE so far?

Moving a business to new, 5 times bigger premises and setting up the whole operation from “scratch”.

7) If you could switch jobs with someone else in the company for a day, who would it be and why?

Any head of department that could broaden my knowledge of the business.

8) What act of sustainability do you implement in your daily life?

 I recycle and use energy-efficient equipment.

  1. What’s your go-to karaoke song?

“It’s My Life” by Bon Jovi, but you do not want to hear me sing.

2. Your dream travel destination?

High Alps with a lot of snow.

3. Best concert you have ever been to?

 “Video Game Live” in Cologne.

4. Favourite food?

Too many to choose from.

5. Favourite thing/place in Sheffield?

“Cosmo” restaurant.
