Green advocates: How GWE resellers can position themselves as sustainability advocates by offering voltage optimisation

The UK has set an ambitious target to reduce carbon emissions by 68% by 2030[i] compared to 1990 levels, and is the only major economy to have set a target of 77% for 2035.

However, this is a huge challenge for UK homes and businesses. According to the UK Government, around 18% of the UK’s total carbon emissions from commercial activity, but four in every ten businesses aren’t sure how to prepare for net zero. There’s a clear opportunity for reseller partners to educate their customers on how they can become more sustainable through implementing voltage optimisation (VO), while taking advantage of numerous other benefits, including fewer maintenance requirements and saving money on energy bills.

Business emissions

Many businesses use substantial amounts of energy; whether that’s for manufacturing, day-to-day operations, or controlling the temperature of the premises. However, with high energy use comes not only high energy bills, but a large carbon footprint.

What’s more, there is a growing need for businesses to show a genuine commitment to improving their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) credentials. Stakeholders such as investors, customers, partners, employees, and even the general public want to see evidence from businesses that they’re reducing their carbon footprint and implementing measures to operate in a greener, more sustainable way. Failure to do so can lead to all kinds of challenges from missing out on new business opportunities or investment through to struggling to attract and retain the best talent.

Being able to offer customers a relatively quick and easy way to reduce their carbon footprint could prove invaluable to those customers worried about their carbon emissions.

Introducing voltage optimisation

VO involves managing and optimising the voltage supplied to electrical appliances and machinery, ensuring they operate at their most efficient levels and avoid electrical overload. By reducing excess voltage, businesses can reduce their equipment’s energy consumption by up to 19%.

There are also the savings associated with prolonging the lifespan of electrical equipment that’s no longer overloaded; both financially and from a sustainability perspective. Prolonging the life of equipment whether it is machinery, light bulbs or heating elements means fewer replacements; a further reduction in the organisation’s carbon emissions.

In addition to the environmental benefits, voltage optimisation translates into tangible cost savings for businesses; reducing their energy consumption in turn saves them money on energy bills. Resellers can highlight the dual advantage of being environmentally conscious while also improving the bottom line for their clients.

eco-max™

GWE offers two models for resellers to present to their customer base. The standard model helps reduce carbon emissions and save money on energy bills, while the enhanced eco-max™ Intelligent Model offers additional smart features such as remote metering and monitoring, giving real-time energy consumption information to users.

Through GWE’s eco-max Intelligent Model, resellers can offer their customers the ability to examine historical data on incoming grid voltage compared to their newly optimised voltage, ideal for ESG reporting, as well as accurate ROI calculations.

Brand positioning

Offering VO enables resellers to position themselves as sustainability advocates by educating customers about the benefits of the technology and working with them to integrate it into other solutions they may be offering to help them reduce their carbon footprint.

As the UK moves closer towards its proposed deadlines for a net zero future, resellers offering VO will have a competitive edge. It is estimated that fewer than 50,000 business properties have the technology fitted, out of more than 2.5 million potential business properties in the UK; a substantial market opportunity for resellers with a footprint-reducing, cost-saving technology ready to install.

The benefits of partnering with GWE
